doctorseyes contrastors

On the way to a professional dental photo, the doctorseyes contrastors are a very effective aid.

They cover unimportant areas and guide the viewer’s gaze to the essentials. The delineation of the image content by means of the black masking gives the image a higher dynamic, the colors come out better and the image appears subjectively sharper.

We distinguish:

labial contrastors

The anterior tooth contrastors are made of 3mm thick aluminum with a special, non-reflective, black coating. They are held behind the anterior tooth row with the palatal rounding. Depending on the diameter of the dental arch, there are different widths. As a rule, however, you can get by with two sizes.

Application Tip:

Make sure that you do not hold the contrastor parallel to the image plane. Otherwise, the light from your illumination system will be reflected directly into the camera. The result is usually a low-contrast background. The best way to obtain a really "crisp" black background is to hold the contrastor at a slight angle behind the row of teeth, as if you wanted to reflect the light upwards.

Occlusal contrastors

The occlusal contrastors have two functions at once. In addition to the contrast function, they also serve as a cheek retractor
and thus facilitate occlusal vision. There are different sizes depending on the diameter of the dental arch.

Application tipps:

When working with mirrors, it is helpful to ask the patient to hold the contrastor with his hand. You then manually guide the mirror in one hand and the camera in the other. In this way, you save another assistant.
